E2 protein-PABC-Artesunate

E2 protein PABC Artesunate is a complex protein compound.E2 protein is a true ubiquitin conjugating enzyme present in Plasmodium falciparum, involved in protein ubiquitination modification. It is a potential anti malarial target, and its existence has been supported by structural and functional studies.

PABC (p-aminobenzyl alcohol carbohydrate) is an acid sensitive linker commonly used in antibody drug conjugates (ADCs), which can cleave and release drugs in the acidic environment of lysosomes. However, there have been no reports of its use in malaria parasite targeting systems.

Artesunate has clear antimalarial activity and kills malaria parasites through an iron mediated free radical mechanism, rather than covalently targeting specific proteins. Artesunate contains hydroxyl/carboxyl sites and can be chemically modified.
